Associate Attorney

Smith Jadin Johnson, PLLC, a boutique law firm conveniently located in Bloomington, Minnesota, is looking to add an Associate Attorney to our growing litigation practice.

The ideal candidate will be licensed to practice law in Minnesota and have 2-5 years of experience in one or more of the following practice areas:

  • Property Insurance Policies and Coverage;
  • Insurance Claim Presentation and Appraisal; and
  • Insurance Claim and Coverage Litigation.

Candidates are expected to have the usual “bona fides” – a degree from an ABA accredited law school, a sterling resume, references, strong research and writing skills, the usual litigation skills (i.e., discovery, motion practice, and/or trial experience), and a proven track record of success.

Legal Administrative Assistant

Smith Jadin Johnson, PLLC is currently looking to hire a Legal Administrative Assistant in our Bloomington, MN Office.  Smith Jadin Johnson, PLLC is a civil litigation firm that practices in the areas of first party insurance claims, construction defect cases, and community association matters. This position will provide a full range of legal administrative support to the assigned attorneys and the office manager in a timely and efficient manner. The successful candidate must have legal experience, and will have the ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a deadline-oriented litigation environment. You must also demonstrate the ability to work independently, support organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in carried situations.

Your job duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Efficiently and thoroughly understand how to use all necessary Firm software (Microsoft Office 2013, Firm Central, Time and Billing) and supporting the less technologically savvy attorneys’ use of the same.
  • Maintain client files in a timely and appropriate manner, including performance of all necessary organization, docketing and calendaring, and document indexing and storage
  • Create, edit and process documents and other work product in a timely and accurate manner
  • Demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Professionally operate multi-line phone system, directing calls and taking messages
  • Greet, assist and acknowledge visitors, following office protocols
  • Process incoming/outgoing daily mail
  • Manage time and volume of work effectively and possess good planning and prioritization skills
  • Possess good planning prioritization and organizational skills to manage volume of work effectively
  • Take a proactive approach to learn and apply the skills required to meet the team workload
  • Cooperate readily and demonstrate a positive approach and support for others
  • Actively contribute to problem solving to create mutually supported alternatives
  • Assume responsibility for a “fair share” of duties, coordinate time-off with team members and foster teamwork with the group.

Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school graduation (prefer completion of professional legal secretarial degree program or paralegal program)
  • Prefer 3+ years legal administrative experience (3-5 years administrative experience may be considered)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 2013, particularly Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent administrative secretarial and proofreading skills

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary commensurate with experience, and subject to employment anniversary review
