Severe weather season in the Land of 10,000 Lakes is officially off and running.

On June 4, 2019, a severe wind and hailstorm pummeled numerous areas throughout the state. High winds, torrential rain, and hail affected the Twin Cities metro area. Golf ball sized hail was reported in the southern metro, including Burnsville, Eagan, Elko/New Market, Farmington, Lakeville, Monticello, Prior Lake, Savage, and New Prague. Additionally, baseball sized hail was reported in Dodge Center, Kasson, Lester Prairie, and Silver Lake. Severe damage to businesses and homes throughout the area was reported.

Hail and wind damage to homes, business, crops, and other property has become an increasingly common problem in Minnesota. The biggest hailstorm casualties tend to be at homes and other structures, which often suffer damage to the windows, siding, and roofs.
